Glastonbury Festival is reportedly planning a new strategy to attract younger Gen Z fans when it returns in 2027 after a fallow year in 2026. The three headliners are said to have been signed, with Billie Eilish the latest name reported to join Harry Styles and Sam Fender on the Pyramid Stage.
According to The Mail on Sunday, Eilish, 24, has been ‘lured’ by organiser Emily Eavis to headline again. If confirmed, the three main performers would have an average age of under 30. Styles and Fender are both 32.
Headliners with Glastonbury history
Eilish has already performed twice at Worthy Farm, debuting in 2019 before becoming Glastonbury’s youngest solo headliner at age 20 in 2022. Fender first appeared on the Pyramid Stage in the same year as an evening act, while Styles has yet to perform at Glastonbury but has been a target of Eavis’ for some time.
The publication also claims that heavy rumours of Robbie Williams, 52, taking the Sunday afternoon Legends slot support the suggestion that Glastonbury is skewing younger for 2027, although bookies also back US rockers Bon Jovi. In 2025, Sir Rod Stewart, 81, played the Sunday teatime slot, while 80-year-old Neil Young was Sunday’s headliner, facing competition from Charli XCX, 34, on the Other Stage.
Scheduling gaps and tour dates
While next year’s headliners are yet to be announced, Styles has a gap in his 2027 tour schedule over Glastonbury in June, wrapping up in Chicago on June 5 before resuming on July 2 in Berlin. Glastonbury 2027, which sold out in minutes earlier this month, is confirmed for June 23–27.
Sam Fender has also announced a UK stadium tour for next year, leaving a conspicuous gap in his schedule. His Proper Massive Stadium Tour includes two hometown shows at Newcastle’s St James’ Park on June 3 and 5, before Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on June 10. He will then play two shows at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 18 and 20, before a gap until July 1, when he is due to perform at Dublin’s Marlay Park.
Former acts weigh in
Previous hopefuls such as Madonna and Oasis have already been ruled out as headliners for next year. While things remain unconfirmed, former Glastonbury acts have offered suggestions. Speaking to Metro at the Mercury Prize ceremony in Newcastle, Suede’s Simon Gilbert suggested Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Frontman Brett Anderson revealed he lived ’10 minutes away’ from the farm, joking that he could hear it from his bedroom. He suggested Brian Eno’s Music for Airports, an ambient album from 1979. Suede headlined the NME Stage in 1993, took to the John Peel Stage in 2015, and performed on the Pyramid Stage in 2003. Metro has contacted reps for Billie Eilish and Glastonbury Festival for comment.
