Coronation Street has revealed a major connection between Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) and newcomer Lucy Parkinson (Anya Dewin). In the latest episode of the ITV soap, Christina discovered that Rachel Parkinson, Lucy's mum, was her daughter.
Lucy has been cared for by Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) following the suspicious death of her mum Rachel. Her dad Richie (Nathan Sussex), Tim's cousin, was arrested for murder, though Lucy has shared fears that she's got 'something bad inside' her.
Christina's shock discovery
In the last offering, Lucy and Tim headed to Shuttleworths, where Lucy crossed paths with Christina. A heated showdown ensued, with both characters getting off on the wrong foot. As George (Tony Maudsley) talked Christina through the ropes of her new job, she accessed the digital file for Rachel Parkinson – and went pale.
Subsequent scenes saw her flee the funeral parlour and get drunk in the Rovers, much to the concern of George, who took her back home to No.11 in a bid to find out what was the matter. In emotional scenes, Christina revealed that Rachel Parkinson, Lucy's mum, was her daughter.
What happens next on the cobbles
Following her revelation the night before, Christina opens up to George about her past – namely daughter Rachel. She is touched as he listens to her without judgement. The question is: will she tell Lucy the truth? Will Lucy find out she's got another relative living on the cobbles? And if so, how will she react?
Lucy writes in her grief journal as Shanice watches on. Shanice offers some words of support, telling her that she hopes she can feel happy soon, which leaves Lucy touched. Next week, Lucy and Christina cross paths once more – but how will it all pan out?
Other storylines in Thursday's episode
Elsewhere, Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) is dosed with the cold and she waves Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) off as he heads with Susie to London for her audition. Glenda (Jodie Prenger) isn't pleased over Eva being unwell and, believing her to be milking it, she storms out. Feeling awful, Eva is forced to close the Rovers – and things go from bad to worse when she hears a concerning noise downstairs.
Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) can't find his phone, with Nick (Ben Price) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) concerned by his reaction when he throws a stapler at the wall, while Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) puts his foot down where Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) is concerned.
