Exclusive: Woman Spent £350k on Dream Wedding, Felt Relief After Divorce

Bonnie Locket, a 37-year-old singer and DJ, has exclusively revealed that she spent over £350,000 on her dream wedding in Lake Como, only to feel a sense of relief when her marriage ended in divorce. The social media influencer, who boasts more than a million followers on Instagram, described the lavish ceremony as an outward display of happiness that masked deeper personal turmoil.

A Lavish Celebration and Hidden Struggles

Bonnie's wedding was a grand affair, featuring a picturesque ceremony in Lake Como followed by a two-week honeymoon in Bora Bora at one of the world's most prestigious hotels. "We met in a nightclub and were together for two years," Bonnie explained about her former partner. "We eventually moved to Ibiza together and built a life there. It was a lot of fun but also very chaotic, in both the best and worst ways."

However, behind the scenes, the relationship was fraught with challenges. "It was turbulent at times, especially with the stress of buying a house in Ibiza," she admitted. "Unfortunately, there was infidelity on his side, and that ultimately ended the relationship." Bonnie, originally from Lincolnshire and later Surrey before moving abroad, funded the extravagant wedding through her successful online career, which she turned to after earning only £500 a week in theatre work.

The Cost of Success and Personal Life

As her bank account grew, Bonnie's personal life began to suffer. "While everyone else saw the fun, sexy side, behind the scenes, there was a lot of s*** going on," she revealed. "I’ve moved countries, changed company structures and gone through a divorce. I’ve realised that [my job] has effectively paused aspects of my personal life for half a decade."

This led her to reflect on the concept of "fertility vampires," a term gaining traction online that refers to partners or circumstances that drain a woman's prime reproductive years without commitment. Bonnie felt her career and chaotic relationships were contributing to this, prompting her to take proactive steps for her future.

Taking Control: Egg Freezing and Emotional Maturity

With her 38th birthday approaching in March, Bonnie has decided to freeze her eggs to preserve her fertility options. "I’ve always been unsure, but I don’t want to reach an age where I want children and can’t have them," she said. "Freezing my eggs gives me options. I have an appointment in March to begin the process."

The procedure involves hormone injections for 10 to 12 days to stimulate egg production, followed by monitoring appointments and a short collection procedure under light sedation. "They’re then frozen using a process called vitrification and stored safely until I decide to use them," Bonnie explained.

Reflecting on her divorce, Bonnie shared mixed emotions. "I felt relieved in a sense, but of course heartbroken too," she said. "Being in a foreign country in a home I had bought for us was incredibly painful. But, looking back now, it was the best thing that ever happened to me because it gave me clarity on what I truly want and deserve."

Moving Forward with Strength

Bonnie now prioritizes emotional maturity and stability in relationships. "I now choose from a place of strength, not loneliness," she added. "Emotional maturity is everything to me now. I want someone who makes me feel emotionally safe. Attraction is important, of course, but steadiness matters far more than excitement or chaos."

She has built a peaceful and financially independent life and is open to love if the right person comes along. "I’m not actively searching right now, but my heart will always be open to love, if and when the right person comes along," Bonnie concluded, emphasizing that freezing her eggs helps "take the pressure off" her biological clock, allowing her to avoid rushing into relationships out of fear.
