As the weather warms up, many of us are reaching for lighter makeup bases. But for those with oilier skin, finding a product that offers a natural, hydrating finish without unwanted shine can be a challenge. Beauty columnist Sali Hughes has tested three new skin tints that promise a matte or semi-matte finish, perfect for combination and oily skin types.
Lisa Eldridge's Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint, £37, is a standout. Suitable for all skin types, it has a soft matte finish that is particularly flattering on combination skins. The texture is light and fluid, never feeling heavy even when built up for more coverage. Hughes notes that the shade T6 (neutral beige) offers an exceptional colour match, as it doesn't lean yellow like many sheer tints.
Kosas' BB Burst Tinted Gel Cream, £36, is another new option. Designed with combination skin in mind, it has a deceptively creamy texture that becomes almost watery on application. It can be applied quickly and finishes semi-matte with no grease or shimmer. Hughes admits it's not for her drier skin, but her oily-skinned friend loves it.
For those who prefer an established product, Bare Minerals' Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturiser SPF30, £33, remains a favourite. This gel-cream moisturiser gives oily and combination skin types a sheer, healthy-looking glow without being shiny. It blurs fine lines and minor discoloration, making it a reliable choice for a natural summer look.
