Margot Robbie was left red-faced after a throwback photo from her teenage years was aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The 32-year-old actress, known for her role in Wolf of Wall Street, gasped when the image appeared behind her, calling it 'literally the most embarrassing photo of my whole life'.
The snapshot shows Robbie in bed reading a Harry Potter book, wearing reading glasses and braces, with her short black hair slicked back. She admitted she didn't need the glasses and had 'lied' to get them to look like Harry Potter. Host Jimmy Kimmel confessed he almost didn't recognise her.
Fast forward to 2023, Robbie is starring as Barbie in the upcoming live-action film, directed by Greta Gerwig. In an interview with Vogue, she revealed she didn't own a Barbie as a child, preferring to build forts and play with trucks. She said she never dreamt of playing Barbie until years into developing the project.
The film, co-starring Ryan Gosling as Ken, is set for release in the US on July 21. Gosling said playing Ken wasn't on his bucket list, but he embraced the role after Robbie and Gerwig 'conjured' his performance. He described bleaching his hair, shaving his legs, and rollerblading down Venice Beach as part of the transformation.
