Jane McDonald's Heartwarming Tribute to Late Father

Jane McDonald has made a heartwarming admission about her late father Pete, who died in 1993, during a repeated episode of her Channel 5 show No Place Like Home. The 63-year-old presenter took a trip down memory lane, recalling fond memories of her dad, a former coal miner.

Father's Day Tribute

Channel 5 shared the throwback clip on social media on Father's Day (June 21), noting that the day can bring 'so many emotions'. The caption read: 'For Jane McDonald, it's a chance to remember her dad with love, gratitude and the memories they shared together. Today, we celebrate the fathers and father figures who have shaped our lives, and hold close those we're missing.'

Memories of a Coal Miner's Daughter

In the clip, Jane was seen in a car revisiting places from her upbringing. She recalled seeing her father return from work as a coal miner: 'This is where my dad used to come every day. I just remember my dad coming in from the pit when he used to have this, like, black coal in his eyes. So, it looked like they'd all got this amazing guyliner on. They just looked really handsome, and the first thing he did was go to the bathroom and had another shower.' She added: 'I love the fact that I am a coal miner's daughter. I'm very proud to be a coal miner's daughter.'

Emotional Moments on Cruising Scotland

Jane has often shared fond memories of her father. In a previous episode of her Cruising Scotland series, she was overcome with emotion while lying on the deck of a boat. She said: 'I think looking out to this, I think of my dad really. Because although he's been gone... he passed over in 1993. When you're somewhere as beautiful as this, your loved ones, I feel, come around you. And I just feel my dad has been on this journey with me.' She then raised her glass and paid tribute: 'Here's to you, dad.'
