Boots has managed to generate queues outside stores for the second time in 12 months with the launch of the No7 Future Renew Damage Protection Defence Shield SPF50. The SPF must-have quickly became the top-selling product on the Boots website on its launch day, with shoppers in London, Manchester, Nottingham, Bristol and Milton Keynes queuing before store opening.

The product is the latest addition to the No7 Future Renew range, which launched in April 2023 and became the UK’s biggest ever beauty launch with more than 500,000 transactions within the first four weeks. One No7 Future Renew product is now selling more than one every second.

The SPF50 promises to protect against visible signs of ageing, including dryness, uneven skin tone and texture, as well as wrinkles. It has been designed to work with the existing Future Renew range, which targets reversing visible signs of sun damage and ageing.

Despite being fair skinned and red-headed, the writer admits she was guilty of not wearing SPF on her face every day. But after reading research published by No7 that the sun is responsible for up to 80 per cent of premature skin ageing, she has been applying it religiously each morning.

The formula is described as incredibly lightweight with a fluid-like texture that absorbs quickly, leaving no white cast. The writer recommends using half a teaspoon, or two fingers worth, to cover the face for full effect.
