Charlotte Crosby's 12-Pocket Jacket for Holiday Reads

Charlotte Crosby has been spotted wearing a 'novel coat' designed to help holidaymakers carry their beach reads. The jacket, created by loveholidays, features 12 compartments capable of holding up to 48 books, aiming to bypass luggage restrictions.

The launch follows a poll of 2,000 UK holidaymakers by the National Literacy Trust, which found reading rates at a 20-year low. Many travellers over-pack clothes, leaving no space for books. Crosby, a self-confessed over-packer, said: 'I'm absolutely made up with this coat. I can carry all my holiday reads and all the outfits I've planned for my trip.'

Research by OnePoll revealed that 23% of people do not consider books as essential as other items, instead packing unused outfits or extra shoes. Al Murray, a spokesperson for loveholidays, commented: 'It's easy to stuff your suitcase with too many clothes, leaving less room for the things that matter, like that bestselling thriller.'

Two-thirds of holidaymakers said reading relaxes them, and 49% enjoy being screen-free. However, one in ten who take books do not read as much as they would like. A third struggle to find quiet time or space, while 18% would take more novels if they had suitcase space.

Murray added: 'So many holidaymakers love to read but just don't end up getting to read as many books as they'd like. It's a fun reminder to pack smarter and make space for the stories that help turn a good holiday into a great one.'
