A former luxury lingerie worker has claimed that the majority of people are wearing the wrong bra size, sharing tips on how to find the perfect fit. Stylist Kenzie, who posted a video on TikTok, said that around 80% of bra wearers are not wearing the correct size, leading to discomfort and poor fit.
Kenzie, who worked at a luxury lingerie company after college, explained that the band fit is the most important factor. She advised that the band should sit parallel around the back and should not be able to be pulled out more than two inches. She also recommended using the loosest hook when trying on a new bra, as the band will stretch over time.
Regarding cup size, Kenzie noted that it is influenced by the band size. She said that if breasts spill out or underwire is uncomfortable, the cups may be too small, while sagging or gaps indicate cups that are too large. She emphasised that straps are not for support; the band and cups provide it.
Finally, Kenzie highlighted the importance of cup shape, noting that there are over 25 bra styles but most stores carry only five. She suggested that different breast shapes may be better suited to balconette or plunge bras, which can offer better lift and comfort. The video received positive comments, with viewers thanking her for the advice.
