Best Anti-Snore Pillows Tested: Can They Really Stop Snoring?

Snoring affects many people, and while there are numerous remedies, anti-snore pillows have emerged as a popular solution. These specially designed pillows work by aligning the head and neck to reduce airway pressure, often by encouraging side sleeping or elevating the upper body. Studies show side sleeping can significantly reduce snoring by minimising airway compression.

Adjusting to side sleeping may take a few nights, but the potential benefits—better breathing, deeper sleep, and improved alertness—are worthwhile. For back sleepers, elevating the head by 4 inches can also improve airflow. I tested several anti-snore pillows over months, using each for at least three weeks to assess shape, firmness, and support in a real home setting.

Levitex pillows, founded by sleep posture expert James Leinhardt, use foam technology to support neutral spine alignment and keep airways open. Available in four sizes, the medium felt luxurious and reduced snoring, neck pain, and even hip discomfort. The Silentnight anti-snore pillow, approved by the British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association, reduced snoring frequency and volume by about 50 per cent in tests. It features an ergonomic foam core and is hypoallergenic with a two-year guarantee.

Simba’s hybrid pillow offers a middle ground with three interchangeable inner layers—memory foam and aerocoil springs—allowing customisation for side or back sleepers. It provided edge-to-edge support and prevented snoring episodes during testing. Another option, with a thick latex core, retains its shape and prevents airway obstruction, offering comfortable support without flattening over time.
