Duke's bar in Newcastle city centre is offering free bookings for its Dolly Parton-themed karaoke room next week, following the country music icon's death on Tuesday at the age of 80.
Bar pays tribute after Parton's death
The Western-themed venue, which opened on the Groat Market in July, posted in Dolly's honour shortly after her passing was announced. The bar's upper floor has two karaoke rooms—one themed around Johnny Cash and the other decorated with pink, leopard print and photos of Dolly.
In a statement, Duke's wrote: 'Dolly has always been the ultimate queen of big hair, bigger dreams, rhinestones & a little bit of chaos basically everything we love.'
Free bookings to celebrate her legacy
The bar announced that the Dolly Room will be free to book from Monday to Sunday next week. It added: 'Over the past few weeks, our Dolly Room has already seen birthdays, celebrations, questionable singing, even more questionable dancing and plenty of Jolene at full volume. So in true Dolly style, we want to celebrate her with love, laughter & a whole lot of sparkle…Monday–Sunday next week, our Dolly Room is completely FREE to book! Grab your team and let’s raise a glass.'

Parton's death confirmed
Dolly Parton died on Tuesday evening, with a statement from her nephew Bryan Seaver confirming the news. He said: 'I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now. It is an honour, an honour that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness.'
A spokesperson for the artist said she had passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, surrounded by loved ones. Parton last played in Newcastle on her Blue Smoke tour in 2014.
