Horror comedy series Widow's Bay has begun streaming on Apple TV+, with the first two episodes released on April 29. The 10-part series, created by writer Katie Dippold, will release new episodes weekly, concluding in June. Dippold is known for her work on Parks and Recreation, The Heat, and the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot.
The show is set on Widow's Bay, a quaint island town off the coast of New England. Mayor Tom Loftis, played by Welsh actor Matthew Rhys, is desperate to revive his struggling community, which lacks Wi-Fi and has spotty cellular reception. He must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed, but as it turns out, the old stories start happening again.
Matthew Rhys, an Emmy-winning actor known for The Americans, Brothers & Sisters, The Post, and Perry Mason, leads the cast. English actress Kate O'Flynn, who has appeared in My Lady Jane and Death in Paradise, plays Patricia. Kevin Carroll (Snowfall, The Walking Dead) portrays Bechir, and Dale Dickey (Fallout, Vice Principals) takes on the role of Rosemary. Kingston Rumi Southwick (Presumed Innocent) plays Evan.
Stephen Root, celebrated for roles in Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Succession, Barry, and Veep, plays Wyck. The supporting cast includes Emmy winner Jeff Hiller (Somebody Somewhere) as Dale, K Callan as Rut, Christian Clemenson as Dr. Morgan, and William Hill as Wayne. Nancy Lenehan plays Gerrie, Bashir Salahuddin is Arthur Lloyd, Tim Baltz is William, Neil Casey is Kurt, Olli Haaskivi plays Ray, Toby Huss (Weapons, Dickinson) plays Reverend Bryce, and Sipiwe Moyo is Chelle. Connor Ratliff and Chris Fleming appear in undisclosed roles.
