Netflix has confirmed that production has officially wrapped on Wednesday season three, offering fans a cryptic update on the show's return.
In a simple message, the streamer stated: “The coffin is closed”, accompanied by an image of Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) sitting at a typewriter. Another image from the new season shows Wednesday and Thing standing in front of the Eiffel Tower, hinting that part of the series will take place in France.
New Rescue Mission for Wednesday
The update comes more than a year after the season two finale, in which Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) transformed into a werewolf during a full moon and can no longer turn back into a human. It is now up to Wednesday to track Enid down and help her.
Wednesday also discovered through a psychic vision that her aunt Ophelia (Eva Green) was alive, though she is unaware that Ophelia wrote “Wednesday must die” on a wall.
New Cast and Possible Release Date
Season three will welcome new stars including Eva Green, Stranger Things actress Winona Ryder, and Game of Thrones' Lena Headey.
The end of filming coincides with Ortega's schedule, according to Forbes, as she is set to start shooting a movie titled Nasty with Rose Byrne in November.
Wednesday season two's filming wrapped in early December 2024, with the show released in August the following year, around eight months later. Filming for season three was confirmed to have completed on Wednesday, September 30. If Netflix follows a similar release pattern, the Addams Family spin-off could return in early 2027, possibly in May.
