A woman nearly missed her friend's wedding in Lake Como, Italy, after hooking up with the best man's brother, racing to the ceremony late and earning a wink from the bride.
Late for the ceremony
Writing for Metro's sex column, Sydney Summers described jumping naked out of a tiny single bed after hearing people gather for the ceremony. She had met Rory days before at the wedding villa.
Summers had flown to Italy with four friends for her friend Sharon's destination wedding. She wasn't a bridesmaid, which she was happy about after seeing the bridesmaids run around with clipboards. The estate housed 40 guests over four days, with the ceremony on day two.
Holiday romance begins
On the first night, Rory sat next to her by the pool and asked many questions. They shared a kiss and later had sex by the pool. The next day, they slipped away for a walk—to his room—and had sex again, falling asleep.
Summers woke to music and people gathering on the terrace. She had about five minutes to get ready, threw on a new dress and heels, and ran to the ceremony, where Sharon had already walked down the aisle.
Bride's reaction
Rory struggled with his bowtie and sat down as people giggled. Summers grabbed a back seat and mimed 'sorry' to Sharon, who burst out laughing and winked. A friend whispered, 'You might as well have been having sex with him at the altar.'
After the wedding, Rory and Summers promised to chat when they returned—her to London, him to Edinburgh—but never did. Still, her friends now quip 'Having sex with Rory were you?' whenever she's late.
