The Photographer of Mauthausen, a 2018 Spanish historical drama about a photographer imprisoned at the Mauthausen concentration camp during World War Two, has been added to Netflix and has stunned viewers.
True story of Francesc Boix
The award-winning film, directed by Mar Targarona, follows Francesc Boix, a Catalan Republican and photographer held captive at the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp. Boix attempts to document the atrocities within the Nazi Austrian camp to provide evidence of the horrors carried out behind its walls.
Fans have said it is one of the most visceral depictions of a concentration camp, with naturalistic acting and stunning cinematography making it one of the most horrifying World War Two films. The production's exceptionally dark subject matter and unflinching depictions of brutality are brought to life through performances that place viewers right in the heart of the action.

They added: "The second half of the film is more tense as the risks increase. They were brave in what they tried to achieve. The stairs of death don't feature a lot but still, seeing them again gave me chills. The Kapos were brutal in all the camps. That depiction was accurate."
