Vogue Williams had Jamie Theakston in a panic when she pretended to go into labour during a prank at the Heart FM studios. The pregnant presenter secretly burst a water balloon under her desk just before they were due to go on air, convincing her co-host she was about to give birth.
The prank unfolds
As she leaned on her desk, Vogue exclaimed, “Oh my God!” Jamie rushed over, asking, “Are you alright?” She kept up the act even as he went into crisis mode. He yelled, “We'll go downstairs and get a taxi out the back,” and then asked, “Oh my God, what are we gonna do?” before shouting, “Where's Spenny at the moment?”—referring to her husband, Spencer Matthews.
Vogue replied, “I don't know... I don't know where he is,” and claimed she had no idea how she'd get to the hospital. “I don't know how I'm goning to walk down to a car,” she said. “You might have to literally wheel me on this chair.”
The reveal
Jamie paced around, comforting her and preparing to escort her out. Then someone said, “one thing Jamie,” and a loud bang filled the studio with confetti. “Oh, you're kidding me!” Jamie said as the penny dropped. The laughing mum-to-be defended herself: “You are so nice. I feel really guilty,” she told him. “Well, you know what? If anything ever went wrong, I'd like you to be there. You're very calm under pressure. Well done.”
Heart uploaded clips of the prank to Instagram, drawing praise for Jamie. Presenter Sian Welby joked, “I work on the floor below and from this moment on, if there’s any emergency I’m going to get Jamie Theakston.” Olly Murs agreed, saying, “I’m calling Jamie with any emergency from now on!! Cool as you like.”
