An actor who starred opposite Sir David Jason in a classic episode of Only Fools and Horses has described the experience as 'wonderful' and the legendary star as a 'consummate professional'. Vas Blackwood appeared in the 1986 episode titled The Longest Night, playing Lennox Gilbey, a character who holds Del Boy, Rodney, and Uncle Albert hostage in a supermarket office.

Blackwood, now 63, recalled his time on set with great affection. 'It was a great experience. Consummate professional. And Nicholas Lyndhurst, wonderful. It wasn't all about me but I was the lead in that episode and they made me feel so at home in rehearsals,' he said. The episode was directed by Mandie Fletcher and recorded in front of a live audience, which Blackwood described as a 'wonderful experience'.
Choosing Only Fools and Horses
The actor, also known for his role in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, revealed that he initially hesitated to take the role because he was considering another TV series that offered more money. However, after meeting producer Ray Butt and reading the script, he decided to go with Only Fools and Horses. 'I will never regret that,' he said.
