Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to Star in Sci-Fi Thriller 'Liminal' for Apple

Apple has greenlit 'Liminal', a sci-fi action-thriller directed by Louis Leterrier, starring Oscar nominee Vanessa Kirby and Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The film is based on the AWA graphic novel 'Telepaths' by J. Michael Straczynski, Steve Epting and Brian Reber.

While the plot of the feature is under wraps, the source material is set in a world where a tenth of the population suddenly gains telepathic powers due to an electromagnetic disturbance. Newly telepathic Boston police must contend with a faction led by a wrongly convicted prisoner trying to escape a world where their powers make them targets.

The screenplay is written by Justin Rhodes. Producers include Zach Studin for AWA Studios and Kevin Walsh for The Walsh Company via his overall deal with Apple Studios. Executive producers are Ray Angelic, Straczynski, Epting and Reber, with Patrick McNamara and Juliet Kirby co-producing.

Leterrier, known for 'Fast X' and 'Lupin', also directs the upcoming 'Fast Forever'. Filming is expected to begin in New York City.
