Netflix has released The Whisper Man, an adaptation of Alex North's best-selling novel, featuring a cast packed with Hollywood icons. The film follows retired Detective Pete Willis, played by Robert De Niro, after his grandson is kidnapped.
Ten years prior, Willis caught the notorious Whisper Man child serial killer. With the perpetrator still behind bars, Pete enlists his help to catch the person who took his grandchild.
Michael Keaton as Frank Carter
The actor behind The Whisper Man himself, also known as Frank Carter, is Michael Keaton, recognised for playing Batman in the movies Batman and Batman Returns. He is also remembered for starring in the films Jack Frost, Beetlejuice and Spider-Man: The Homecoming, among others.
Adam Scott and Robert De Niro lead the cast
Parks and Recreation and Severance star Adam Scott co-leads the cast as Tom Kennedy, a writer and widower who gets back in touch with his estranged dad after his son is kidnapped.
Robert De Niro, famed for films like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Cape Fear and The Godfather II, plays Pete Willis, the retired detective who comes face-to-face with the serial killer he caught 10 years ago.
Supporting cast and additional roles
Norman Collins is characterised as a "crime junkie with a house full of murderous artifacts", making him a key suspect. He is brought to life by Hamish Linklater, whose credits include Legion, The New Adventures of Old Christine, The Crazy Ones and Netflix's Midnight Mass. Linklater has also appeared in Widow's Bay, Gen V, Manhunt and American Horror Story.
Michelle Monaghan, known for Made of Honor, Patriots Day, Gone Baby Gone, Mission Impossible III and True Detective, plays Detective Amanda Beck, who leads the Whisper Man investigation and is resolute in apprehending the perpetrator.
Additional cast members include Will Brill as Sergeant John Dyson, Acston Luca Porto as Jake Kennedy, and Owen Teague as Frank Carter Jr. The Whisper Man is available to watch on Netflix.
