Channel 4's gripping crime drama The Light in the Hall is set to make its long-awaited return later this month, three years after its first season captivated audiences. The series, which originally premiered in Welsh on S4C in 2022, quickly became a binge-watch favourite.
The new season, titled Still Waters, returns viewers to the fictional Welsh village of Llanemlyn. The story follows Caryl Huws, played by Siân Reese-Williams, who has retrained as a journalist and becomes intrigued by the death of Llyr Owen, killed in a 1995 explosion at a reservoir.
As Caryl investigates, the case takes a new turn when Llyr's cousin Rhys returns to the town after serving 30 years in prison for the murder. The synopsis describes a drama of protest, guilt and generational reckoning, told across two timelines.
Creator Regina Moriarty returns, with new cast members including Mark Lewis Jones and Robert Glenister. Joanna Scanlan, who starred in the first season, does not appear in the new episodes.
The Light in the Hall: Still Waters airs on Tuesday 16 June at 9pm on Channel 4.
