Wayne Rooney has revealed the unusual feature he insisted upon when building his family home in Cheshire, a six-bedroom estate known as High Lake Manor, valued at approximately £20 million.
The former England captain lives there with his wife Coleen and their four sons, Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass. Fans get an inside look at the property in his new Disney Plus documentary, The Real Rooneys, a 10-part series released today (September 24).
Windowless room request
In the series, Rooney discloses the odd specification he demanded during the house's construction: a room without any windows. "I only wanted two things in here, a small little room with no windows, not because I am a psycho for playing PlayStation or watching a movie," he joked. "And a snooker table. I didn't really care what else."
Other amenities at the mansion include grounds large enough for go-kart racing, which also feature in the documentary, plus a swimming pool and a boxing ring.
Family life on screen
The series chronicles everything from Rooney's dismissal as Plymouth Argyle boss to Coleen's launch of her own Primark fashion line, alongside their domestic life. Coleen has previously described the estate as "everything I have dreamed of," explaining: "As a little girl you draw a house, a door in the middle and the same both sides." She adds: "The only problem is we've got to share it with our four boys."
The first eight episodes are available to stream immediately, with the final two released on October 1. According to Disney's synopsis: "The Rooneys invite the cameras into their home for a pivotal year. It's all change as Wayne swaps football management for school runs, while Coleen embraces new opportunities."
