Clarkson's Farm fans have been desperate to find out what happened to fan-favourite pig Richard Ham in season five. Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan faced a tough decision about the pigs, ultimately deciding they had to leave the farm permanently.
Richard Ham's Whereabouts Revealed
In episode five of the new series, Clarkson updated fans on Richard Ham, the piglet named after his friend and co-star Richard Hammond. While tidying the former pig enclosure, Jeremy remarked: "It's been years and years and years and every time you come down here, they all come running along to see you, and now look." Noticing the sprawling vacant space, he continued: "Mind you, that being said, it's not completely empty though, is it? Because look who's here. Ladies and gentlemen, Richard Ham." He then gestured towards the pig, who had developed considerably since his previous appearance on screen. "Look how he has grown!" Jeremy exclaimed. "He has become a mighty pig, a huge pig."
Why Richard Ham Stayed
"I should just explain what's going on here," he told viewers, who had grown increasingly curious about Richard Ham's whereabouts. "The problem we've got though, is he can't be a fluffer any more because there's no more pigs to fluff. We can't eat him, because we just can't, and we can't breed from him because there's something genetically wrong with him. So we have just got him." He then explained how, since farmers are advised against keeping pigs in isolation, they were required to keep another male pig to provide companionship for Richard Ham. They christened the second pig 'James Boar', in tribute to the final member of the Grand Tour trio, James May.
Richard Ham emerged as a fan-favourite during season four of Clarkson's Farm, with audiences utterly charmed by his adorable nature. Clarkson's Farm season 5 is on Prime Video.
