Marcus Rashford Eager to Continue at Barcelona Despite Permanent Transfer Off Table
Rashford Eager to Stay at Barcelona Despite Permanent Move Off

Marcus Rashford is said to be eager to continue as a Barcelona player despite a permanent transfer from Manchester United appearing to be off the table. Rashford spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan with the Spanish heavyweights, having earlier made clear his wish to depart Old Trafford.

Rashford's Productive Loan Spell

The England star enjoyed a productive spell in Spain, netting 14 goals and laying on 14 assists throughout his loan period at the Camp Nou. Such performances have resulted in the 28-year-old earning his place in the England squad for this summer's World Cup, though Rashford now confronts an unclear future in the summer transfer window.

Barcelona's Decision on Permanent Transfer

Barcelona had the option of securing Rashford on a permanent arrangement for £26million, yet the Spanish giants have opted against triggering that clause, leaving the forward's prospects uncertain. There have been hints that Barcelona might still attempt to bring Rashford back on another loan.

Spanish outlet Marca has reported that Rashford remains fully determined to rejoin Barcelona for next season, despite the club deciding against signing him permanently. The England international is said to have been given encouragement by manager Hansi Flick that another move could be brokered.

Rashford's Determination to Return

Rashford believes he can still engineer a fresh switch to Barcelona, whether that comes in the form of another loan or with a new transfer fee negotiated with United. His prospects of returning to the Camp Nou again took a hit after the Spanish club snapped up Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for around £69million.

Separate reports over the weekend indicated that Rashford rejoining United's first-team squad next season remains on the table, with claims the forward has sounded out the possibility with some of his teammates. United boss Michael Carrick is also said to have maintained regular contact with Rashford, with the prospect of a comeback to the squad at Old Trafford far from being ruled out.

Carrick's Comments on Rashford's Future

Carrick has previously addressed the possibility of Rashford rejoining the United first-team fold, stopping short of dismissing the notion outright. "I just think there's decisions to be made in time on certain things and obviously Marcus is in that situation," Carrick said back in April. "But at this point in time, nothing's been decided. And it will be, because it has to be at a certain point. But at this stage, there's nothing to say."

Rashford spent last season on loan with Barcelona from Manchester United. The forward's future remains a topic of intense speculation as the summer transfer window approaches.
