Period drama 'Prisoners of Paradise', starring Ellie Bamber, is now available to watch. The film tells a story of forbidden love set in Mauritius in the 1920s, where young orphan Lucy falls for labourer Krishna, played by Mehdi Dehbi.
Behind the Scenes and Release
Bamber, known for her roles in 'Willow' and 'The Trial of Christine Keeler', recently shared filming photos on Instagram, calling it an incredible experience and teasing the movie's release this month.
Plot Synopsis
The synopsis describes it as a haunting, tragic love story set in 1920s Mauritius, beneath whose beauty lurks a system of abuse and oppression. Lucy, a 17-year-old British orphan, is sent to live with her uncle George, played by Rupert Penry-Jones, whose charm masks a darker nature. She meets Krishna, an indentured labourer, and their forbidden love becomes a refuge.
The film also features Rhona Mitra, Edward Akrout, JJ Feild, and Amy Beth Hayes. It is based on Romesh Gunesekera's novel 'Prisoner of Paradise' and was originally titled 'Ambleside'.
'Prisoners of Paradise' is available to purchase on the Sky Store.
