Newcastle pub set for live TV stardom on Joe Lycett's show

The Tipsy Toad, a micro-pub in Heaton, will be seen by millions of TV viewers on Friday night when it appears on the latest episode of Joe Lycett's Channel 4 show. The pub has been chosen to feature in 'Live at the Lycett Arms', where the comedian takes up residence at his own pub for an hour of laughs with a guest manager, fellow comedians, and celebrity punters.

During Friday night's broadcast, Joe will cross live to The Tipsy Toad, giving staff and regulars the chance to speak to him and the audience at home. The pub announced the news on social media, writing: 'Heaton's most poorly kept secret is officially out. The Tipsy Toad is now twinned with The Lycett Arms down in London.'

Live broadcast from Heaton

The post added: 'Catch Darrin and Sarah tonight LIVE on Channel 4 at 10pm with @joelycett on Live at the Lycett Arms talking about what it takes to run this silly little place and why we love it so dearly. With special guest appearances from former bar staff and a few of our most cherished punters sat at the bar.'

Filming will take place live inside The Tipsy Toad as the broadcast airs, meaning anyone heading there for a drink could end up on TV. The post warned: 'Please also be aware it will be crowded and loud and there will be mandatory moments of silence while Sarah and Darrin make fools of themselves live on TV!'

Regulars react to TV fame

Regulars at the pub have shared their excitement about the appearance. One replied: 'This is bloody brilliant! Thank goodness for Joe Lycett failing his licensing exam! Well done guys! Have a blast!' Another commented: 'Absolutely buzzing for this!'
