Netflix's beloved legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer is coming to an end after five seasons. The streaming service announced on Wednesday that the series, starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, will conclude with its upcoming fifth season, currently in production.
Showrunners Confirm Final Season
Co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez stated: "All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us. From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion. And while it is, of course, bittersweet, it's also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future."
They added: "We promise you, we are right now building a final season that will provide the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves. We can't wait to share it with you!"
Based on Michael Connelly's Novels
The series, based on the novels by Michael Connelly, follows Mickey Haller (Garcia-Rulfo), an attorney who operates from the back seat of his Lincoln sedan. The premise also inspired the 2011 film starring Matthew McConaughey.
The fifth and final season will be based on Connelly's seventh book, Resurrection Walk. Cobie Smulders joins the cast as Mickey's long-lost half-sister, who seeks his help to free a wrongfully convicted woman.
Returning and New Cast Members
Returning cast members include Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, and Angus Sampson, along with recurring guest stars Neve Campbell, Krista Warner, Angelica Marie, and Gigi Zumbado. Newcomers Amy Aquino, Angela Trimbur, Elpidia Carillo, Nate Corddry, Tricia Helfer, and Keir O'Donnell will also appear.
Season Five Renewal and Performance
The renewal for season five was confirmed a week before season four premiered in February. The fourth season spent four weeks in Netflix's global top 10 English-speaking series, amassing over 26.4 million views, according to Netflix.
A release date for the 10-episode final season has not yet been announced.
This news follows Netflix's recent announcement that The Night Agent, 2023's most-watched show globally on the platform, will also end after its fourth season.
