A Netflix executive has given a four-word verdict on the possibility of Meghan Markle starring in one of the streaming service's hit shows. Reports earlier this month suggested the Duchess, 45, was in talks to join the cast of Netflix's The Gentlemen for its third season, though other reports claimed those talks fell through.
Exec's response at Edinburgh TV Festival
At the Edinburgh TV Festival this week, Netflix's head of scripted shows in the UK, Manda Levin, was asked about the rumours that emerged after Prince Harry and his wife revealed they would be moving back to the UK with their two children. "All bets are off," Levin said, as reported by Deadline.
The comment has led some to believe that anything is possible, and Markle could join the cast of The Gentlemen or another Netflix series.
Meghan's acting background
Meghan rose to fame starring as Rachel Zane in the legal drama-comedy Suits, which aired between 2011 and 2019, and left the show in 2018 during the season finale. She has not acted since, stepping back from the screen to join the Royal Family in an official capacity after marrying Prince Harry.
The couple relinquished their official Royal duties in 2020 and moved to California. They have since explored commercial ventures, including a production company, a Netflix docuseries and Meghan's lifestyle brand, As Ever.
Life back in the UK
The pair are now back in the UK, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are starting school in the UK. Reports indicate the couple are living in the Cotswolds, an area where many other celebrities reside.
Questions remain over whether Meghan can make a successful return to acting. TV editor Emily Baker wrote in a recent article that she believes Meghan is "too famous" to return to acting. "The integrity of any character, storyline, film or series would be immediately undermined by her presence – all we'd see is the Duchess of Sussex pretending to be someone else," she wrote.
