Margaret Qualley turned heads at the London world premiere of her upcoming film The Dog Stars, wearing what many are calling the strangest shoes Hollywood has ever seen. The 31-year-old actress strutted around Leicester Square on 20 August in black Chanel footwear that featured only the heel portion, leaving her toes completely bare.
Fans react to the unconventional footwear
The eye-catching sandals, taken from the fashion house's Cruise 2026/2027 collection, were matched with a black tasselled Chanel dress featuring a plunging v-neckline as her hair cascaded down her shoulders. Over on X/Twitter, one person wrote: "Why on earth will I buy this for $3,000," while someone else said: "I will never wear this." A third person joined in: "Wtf is going on here right now? Is this the new styles in town now?" as a fourth typed: "Where's the rest of them?"
Star-studded premiere
Margaret takes on the role of Cima in Ridley Scott's dystopian thriller, adapted from the 2012 novel of the same name by Peter Heller. The action-packed picture centres on Hig, a pilot played by Wuthering Heights and Euphoria star Jacob Elordi, who battles with a band of fellow survivors in a devastated world after a deadly virus eliminates most of mankind.
Margaret was joined by her co-star Jacob, who sported a navy pinstripe suit paired with black-framed sunglasses. Jacob's four-legged co-star Jasper the dog also made an appearance at the premiere alongside director Sir Ridley. Elsewhere, Josh Brolin, who portrays ex-marine Bangley, arrived at the premiere dressed in a brown suit while Doctor Strange actor Benedict Wong opted for a black wrap-style jacket teamed with pale pink trousers and a coordinating silk pocket square.
Personal news and other attendees
The premiere marked Margaret's first red carpet outing since news of her separation from husband Jack Antonoff broke earlier this summer. The pair tied the knot in August 2023, but rumours of a rift began after musician Jack was spotted at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding with his sister Rachel rather than Margaret, before their split was confirmed.
The Dog Stars hits UK cinemas from 26 August and a number of UK celebrities were spotted on the white carpet for the premiere. Amongst the star-studded lineup was Myleene Klass who wore a white gown as she posed with her daughters Ava, 19, and Hero, 15. The Saturdays' vocalist Una Healy opted for a red and black floral number, while former Love Island favourite Tasha Ghouri dazzled in a flowing blue gown.
