Olga Kurylenko Stuns at Red Sea Film Festival Gala Honouring Michael Caine
Kurylenko dazzles at Saudi film festival opening gala

The glittering Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, played host to a constellation of stars over the weekend, with Ukrainian-French actress Olga Kurylenko making a particularly elegant appearance on Sunday.

A Sophisticated Style Statement

The 46-year-old former model and actress, best known for her role as Bond girl Camille Montes in Quantum of Solace, showcased her sophisticated fashion sense. She posed confidently in a chic, cropped beige jacket and a matching high-waisted skirt. The boxy, buttoned jacket was perfectly paired with the skirt, creating a polished and modern silhouette.

Kurylenko elevated the ensemble with a pair of shiny black heels, adding to her statuesque presence. She accessorised with a striking pair of statement silver earrings, completing a look that was both refined and impactful. Her appearance came just a night after she wowed attendees at the separate Women In Cinema event in a glitzy dress.

A Star-Studded Opening Night

Kurylenko's appearance was part of the festival's vibrant fifth edition, which officially opened last Thursday with a dazzling gala. The coastal city of Jeddah first launched the festival back in 2019, and this year's theme, 'For the Love of Cinema', drew guests from across the globe to the historic Al-Balad district.

The opening night was a magnet for Hollywood and international talent. Among the glamorous arrivals were Dakota Johnson, Ana De Armas, and Rita Ora. The event also served as the world premiere for the high-energy biographical drama Giant, which tells the story of British boxing legend Prince Naseem Hamed. The film stars Amir El-Masry as 'Naz' and Pierce Brosnan as his famed Irish trainer, Brendan Ingle.

Honouring a Screen Legend

The emotional highlight of the gala was the tribute to cinematic icon Sir Michael Caine. The actor, who celebrated his 92nd birthday in March, was honoured for his extraordinary seven-decade career. He was introduced on stage by his longtime friend, Vin Diesel, and was supported by three of his grandchildren: Taylor, Miles, and Allegra.

Receiving a standing ovation, Caine reflected on his remarkable journey. "I kept working until I was 90, which was two years ago, and I thought to myself I'm not going to do anything else because I've had all the luck you can get," he said. He expressed particular delight at being recognised at the festival, admitting, "I thought I'd never win with anything there. And I have won something, so I'm happy."

Speaking warmly about his family, both personal and professional, The Dark Knight star added, "I have a fabulous family that I adore beyond belief, and I've had a fairly fabulous movie family. Some have let me down, but it doesn't matter I love them beyond belief, including the failures."

The festival's 2025 jury, which includes figures such as Nadine Labaki, Riz Ahmed, and head juror Sean Baker, were also in attendance. The event was a powerful celebration of global cinema, with a continued bold focus on championing Arab filmmakers and regional talent.
