Netflix has announced that its fictional K-pop group, KPop Demon Hunters, which spent last summer fighting demons on screen, is embarking on a real-world arena tour. The streaming giant revealed on Wednesday that the film is being transformed into a global live concert experience in partnership with AEG Presents, marking the company's move to turn one of its biggest hits into a touring franchise.
Announcement at Netflix Upfronts
The announcement was made during Netflix's Upfronts presentation in New York, where the company stated that the tour would "bring elements of the two-time Oscar-winning film to life in spectacular ways." A waitlist for tickets has already opened at kpopdemonhunterslive.com for tour dates scheduled later this year. According to Entertainment Weekly, the tour is expected to visit 150 cities in 2027, although Netflix has yet to officially confirm this figure. The Independent has reached out to Netflix for further comment.
"Obviously, nothing has captured the world's attention quite like KPop Demon Hunters," said Amy Reinhard, Netflix's president of advertising sales, at the presentation, as reported by Variety. "There were sing-a-longs, Halloween costumes, shoutouts at the US Open and Buckingham Palace. There was even a 25 per cent spike in flights booked to Korea."
"The live tour is going to bring fans even closer to the characters and the music that they love, and of course, we want you to be a part of that," she added. "We'll have more information to share about the cities later this year, so stay tuned."
About the Film
KPop Demon Hunters, released in June 2025, is an action fantasy-musical that follows a K-pop girl group, Huntr/x, who lead a double life battling a rival band, the Saja Boys, who are actually demons. The film holds the record for the most-streamed movie in Netflix history.
Produced by Sony Animation and directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, the film features a voice cast led by Arden Cho of Teen Wolf and K-drama star Ahn Hyo Seop, alongside May Hong and Yoo Ji Young. The supporting voice cast includes Kim Yun Jin, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Squid Game's Lee Byung Hun.
Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami provide the singing voices for the Huntr/x members. They have spent much of the past year performing the breakout track "Golden" at live events, including a surprise appearance alongside Katseye during the group's Coachella set in April and a televised performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in October 2025. The chart-topping single went on to win the Oscar, as well as prizes at the Golden Globe Awards and the Critics Choice Awards for best original song, and became the first-ever K-pop song to win a Grammy.
Tour and Sequel Plans
In March, Bloomberg reported that Netflix was considering staging concerts in arenas holding between 10,000 and 20,000 people across dozens of major cities. The streamer had discussed bringing the three singers on tour, but also considered using virtual performers or hologram technology as part of the live production. However, it was noted that the trio would likely not appear at every stop.
Netflix has already confirmed a sequel to the movie, with Kang and Appelhans returning to write and direct. Talk of a sequel began shortly after the film's release as it topped Netflix's global charts for four consecutive days, starting with 17 countries on the first day and climbing to 41 within four days. Given the lengthy production time for animated features, the sequel is not expected to be released until 2029.
McDonald's launched limited-edition KPop Demon Hunters meals in the US earlier this year, inspired by Huntr/x and the Saja Boys, while toymaker Mattel released a line of dolls, collectibles, and singing figures based on the film's characters.
