Kit Harington's A Tale of Two Cities: First Look

MGM+ has released the first trailer for its four-part adaptation of Charles Dickens's A Tale of Two Cities, starring Kit Harington. The series, based on the 1859 novel, is set in London and Paris in 1782 during the French Revolution and centers on a dangerous love triangle.

Star-Studded Cast and Plot

Harington plays Sydney Carton, a brilliant but erratic young lawyer. Mirren Mack, known for Miss Austen, portrays Lucie Manette, a young woman whose life is upended when she learns her father, presumed dead for nearly 20 years, may be alive in Paris. François Civil plays Charles Darnay, a French émigré arrested and charged with treason.

Lucie seeks Carton's help to free Darnay, hoping he will lead her to Paris to find her father. A complex love triangle unfolds as both men vie for her affection. MGM+ teases: "Yet neither man – physically so alike, spiritually poles apart – can escape the other. Instead, they find themselves bound together in life and death; through triumphs, tragedies, marriage and murder."
