Katie Price's big-screen acting debut is now available as 'Jackie the Stripper' lands on Amazon. The reality TV star plays Lisa in the tongue-in-cheek comedy, a playful spin on the Jack the Ripper story, alongside Jamie Lomas, Patsy Kensit, and Harry Potter star James Phelps.
Director Praises Katie's Performance
Director Michael Head previously told the Daily Star that the 39-year-old had been well received at the Berlin Film Festival, where the movie was shown. "Jackie is currently being shown at the Berlin Film Festival, and Katie has been really well received," Head exclusively told the Daily Star.
"Katie from film buyers and industry executives, they're loving her appearance, which is fantastic considering she often faces unfair criticism. I genuinely think some of the negativity she gets is completely unjust. Honestly, I'm shocked by some of the blind hatred and unfair comments she receives online."
A Natural Performer
Michael said Katie proved herself to be a natural performer behind the scenes, praising both her professionalism and her sense of humour. "She was so professional but she was also hilarious, she's unbelievably funny. If you look at her career, she was a model, a very pretty lady, but how many other people are incredibly pretty? She's had the career she's had because she's persistent, talented and got the drive."
His verdict on her time filming was particularly glowing: "What was she like on set? The ultimate pro."
Role and Plot
Katie plays Lisa, a former female assassin who is called back into action when everything begins to fall apart for the film's lead character, Lottie, played by Charlotte Kirk. Michael explained that the story imagines an unusual tradition dating back to the days of Jack the Ripper, with an elected woman acting as the head assassin or boss before passing the role down through generations.
"At the end of the film, everything looks like it's falling to pieces and Katie's character, Lisa, is then called back to come and help," he said. "She was brilliant on set and played the role really well. It wasn't the biggest of roles, but she absolutely nailed it. I think a few people will be surprised with the performance she gives."
Female Empowerment Theme
The movie has been described as a celebration of female empowerment, with its central characters portrayed as fearless women who stick together and refuse to take any nonsense. Head said: "The film is all about fun female empowerment. It's basically like all the girls stick together. They're bad a**, they're strippers, they're hustlers, and they don't take no s***."
The release comes after the film secured attention overseas, with UK premieres including Leicester Square and a North American debut in New York among the project's plans. For fans wanting to see Katie take on her latest career challenge, the wait is now over — 'Jackie the Stripper' is available to watch on Amazon from today.
