Jeremy Clarkson was left fuming after missing the rare eclipse, while millions of stargazers shared their experiences on social media. The Clarkson's Farm star, 66, had been among those heading outside on Wednesday evening hoping to catch a glimpse of the rare astronomical event.
Parts of the country fell into complete darkness as the moon gradually slid across the face of the sun, covering up to 96 per cent of the space. But while many astonishing snaps were quickly shared on social media, Jeremy wasn't so lucky. Sharing his view on his page, he uploaded a bright white blob of the sun across his fields.
Clarkson's Disappointment
He wrote: "So annoying. We didn’t get the eclipse in Chipping Norton." Sadly for the presenter, the next chance to see an eclipse like this is over 20 years away. The UK will have to wait until 2050 for a similar situation, with the next totality not for decades.
Days earlier, Jeremy had admitted the harvest at his Diddly Squat Farm is 'f***ed'. It comes as the country prepared for the fifth heatwave of the year. On Instagram, he shared a screenshot of the BBC weather forecast for Chipping Norton, captioned: "Harvest already f***ed. May as well just enjoy it now."
Health Update
Earlier this summer, Jeremy revealed his cancer diagnosis on his reality series. The host underwent an operation to remove part of his prostate, and the series ended with him saying he had experienced complications during treatment, but there has been some good news since the cameras stopped rolling. A follow-up PSA test two months ago revealed no indication of cancer.
He admitted he has made some big changes since and, after previously branding alternative diets as "utter madness", he's spent some time meat free. "I really like seeing my grandchildren," he told The Sunday Times recently. "I want to watch them grow up. I drive much more slowly. I’m a bit of a dawdler. I go for walks a lot. I have vegetarian food."
James May's Take
James May has since offered an update about his pal's condition. The 63-year-old TV star was quizzed about how Jeremy is getting on after his diagnosis and treatment, speaking on Matt Allwright's 5 programme on Wednesday afternoon. Presenter Matt asked: "Jeremy, your friend, your colleague, your fellow pub owner. How is he getting on?"
James replied: "Oh, he's fine, as far as I can tell. I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago, and I think he's over the over the hurdle."
