Curtis, who plays aunt Helen to Mackey's titular character, revealed that their bond was instantaneous. "Emma's a beautiful person, and I met her the first day at Jim's house," Curtis told HELLO!, referring to director James L. Brooks. "And I fell in love with her, honestly."
The feeling appears to have been mutual, with Mackey reciprocating the warm sentiments about her veteran co-star. "Jamie and I clicked instantly," Mackey shared. "She's so wonderful and so warm and so generous, and makes everyone feel at home."
Mackey further elaborated on Curtis's positive influence on set, noting: "She's just lovely to be around, and she loves her job, so being around those sorts of people makes you feel very at ease and supported when you need it."

The veteran actress also had kind words for Jack Lowden, who plays Ella's husband in the film - though she acknowledged the challenge of his character. "Jack Lowden... he's handsome! He's nice, too, even though he plays such a douchebag," Curtis remarked, highlighting her ability to distinguish between the actor and his on-screen persona.
