ITV has announced an exciting update for fans of the gripping drama 'The Affair,' which has been hailed as 'the best TV show ever' by viewers. The critically acclaimed series, originally aired on Showtime in the United States, will see its fourth season available to stream on ITVX from Sunday, July 5.

Created by Sarah Treem and Hagai Lev, 'The Affair' originally ran for five seasons between 2014 and 2019. It stars Dominic West and Ruth Wilson as Noah Solloway and Alison Bailey, who embark on an extramarital relationship while both are married to others. The series explores the emotional and psychological consequences of the affair, which tears apart two marriages, and the crime that eventually brings the characters back together.

Earlier this year, ITV acquired the series and made all 53 episodes available on its streaming platform, ITVX. Seasons 1 to 3 have been available since the acquisition, and now season 4 will join the lineup. Season 4 finds Noah, Helen (Maura Tierney), Alison, and Cole (Joshua Jackson) in their own orbits, alienated from each other. Each character is in a new relationship, forcing them to decide whether they can truly leave the past behind. The season focuses on new beginnings, tragic ends, and the elusive possibility of forgiveness.
