Armando Iannucci, the creator of political satires The Thick of It and Veep, is set to co-write the fourth Paddington film alongside his longtime collaborator Simon Blackwell. The news was reported by Variety on Tuesday.
Iannucci and Blackwell previously worked together on The Thick of It, In the Loop, and Veep. Iannucci is also known for co-creating Alan Partridge with Steve Coogan and The Day Today with Chris Morris.
The fourth Paddington film was announced earlier this year, with Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh stating that 'world-renowned comedy writers' had been hired. Dougal Wilson, who directed the third film Paddington in Peru, is in talks to return as director.
The Paddington franchise has grossed over $800 million globally. Paddington 2 was once the best-reviewed film on Rotten Tomatoes.
