Sandra Bullock has admitted that her 1997 film Speed 2: Cruise Control is the movie she most regrets making. The Oscar-winning actress, promoting her new film The Lost City, told TooFab that the sequel to the hit 1994 thriller Speed remains a source of embarrassment.
Bullock said: 'I have one [film that] no one came around to and I’m still embarrassed I was in. It’s called Speed 2...' She added: 'The film makes no sense. Slow boat. Slowly going towards an island. That’s one I wished I hadn’t done and no fans came around that I know of.'
Speed 2, which cost $160 million to make, was a critical and commercial disappointment. It holds a 4% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed $165 million worldwide, a poor return given the budget and marketing costs. The film was set on a luxury cruise liner, a departure from the high-speed bus of the original, and starred Jason Patric after Keanu Reeves declined to return.
Bullock also referenced her other sequel, 2005's Miss Congeniality: Armed and Fabulous, as a lesser work. When Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe noted his career began with sequels, Bullock replied: 'They're all brilliant. Mine are all stinkers.'
