Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are the focus of a new one-off documentary, Harry & Meghan: The Return of the Prince, which debuted today (24 September) on Disney+ and Hulu in the US.
Part of the IMPACT x Nightline series, the special episode examines the couple's decision to return to the UK, six years after relocating to the US. According to the official logline, the documentary "talks to royal commentators, reporters and experts on the British royal family to unpack Harry and Meghan's public falling-out with the royal family and the potential ramifications of their return."
Royal reconciliation question
The logline adds: "With the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana's death approaching, will the tension within palace walls give way to a royal reconciliation, or will the divide between the rival courts only grow wider?"
While Meghan and Harry are not thought to be involved in the project, their move to the UK has reportedly already put them back in the headlines and on screens.
Sussexes' future plans
The couple, who have reportedly moved to the Cotswolds, have remained tight-lipped about their future plans, though they continue to run Archewell Productions, which maintains a content deal with Netflix. In recent weeks, it has also been reported that Harry is hoping to produce a documentary about his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, ahead of the 30th anniversary of her death.
Whether any wheels are in motion remains to be seen, though Harry would need to tread carefully given the legal fallout his uncle, Earl Spencer, is already facing after releasing his memoir, Swan Song, on Tuesday.
Legal action and Meghan rumours
Piers Morgan is currently pursuing legal action against Spencer and his publishers at Penguin, after noting that the Earl had incorrectly named him as the Editor of The Daily Mirror in 1993 when intrusive photos of Princess Diana were published. Morgan was working for The Sun at the time and joined The Daily Mirror in 1995, two years after the incident.
Morgan is calling for the "offending pages" to be removed. "And if that means they pulp the first edition, so be it", he declared on GB News.
As for Meghan, speculation continues over whether she will revisit her acting career. Earlier this month, stars of The Gentlemen reacted to reports that Meghan was in talks to star in season three. Actor Theo James told the BBC, "It's fascinating to watch, but ultimately it's a lot of rumour." Vinnie Jones added in an interview with The Sun, "Well, I haven't seen her on the cast list. I think that's dead and buried. We can honestly say now that it ain't happening, and you'd be a bit of a knob to think the idea was still alive."
Harry & Meghan: The Return of the Prince is available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu in the US. A UK release date has yet to be confirmed.
