First Taste of Wetherspoons Fish and Chips Surprises

A first-time diner at Wetherspoons has shared his verdict on the pub chain's fish and chips, admitting he was pleasantly surprised. Food vloggers Joe and Naz visited The Rocket, a riverside Wetherspoons in Putney, southwest London, to sample the menu. While Joe had been to 15 Wetherspoons pubs in recent months, Naz confessed he had 'never trusted the food'.

Naz ordered the fish and chips with garden peas, costing £14, while Joe opted for the Cheese Meltdown burger at £13. Both meals came with complimentary drinks. Upon seeing the portions, Joe remarked on the generous size, noting the burger came with chips and onion rings. Naz commented on the unusual shape of the fish, describing it as having 'legs', but praised the portion size.

Tasting the fish, Naz said: 'Fish tastes really good, actually. I was worried that it might not be as fresh as I'd like it, but it tastes really fresh.' Joe agreed, describing the fish as 'light' and noting it 'melts in your mouth'. The chips were deemed 'okay' but not particularly crispy, while Joe found the burger 'dry' but acceptable.

Naz revealed he had expected to rate the food a five or below but was impressed by the value for money. He ultimately gave the fish and chips a seven out of ten, while Joe rated the burger a six. The pair concluded that the fish and chips exceeded expectations, with Naz admitting he was 'quite impressed'.
