Fans mistake new Corrie cop for Craig Tinker

Fans of Coronation Street were left speechless after thinking they spotted Craig Tinker, over a year since his tragic death. The beloved character, played by Colson Smith, was killed off in May last year following a brutal attack by Mick Michaelis.

Craig Tinker's story on the cobbles

Craig was the son of Beth Sutherland (Lisa George) and arrived on the street in 2012 when Beth started working at Underworld. He formed close friendships with Bethany Platt and Faye Windass. In 2016, he met his father Darryl Parkins in prison but later cut ties. Craig joined the Weatherfield police force as a trainee in 2017 and helped bring corrupt officer Neil Clifton to justice.

Fan reaction to PC Redmond

During recent episodes, DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) has been investigating the murder of Theo Silverton. With her partner Kit Green away, she received help from newcomer PC Redmond (Mark Newsome). Many viewers quickly noticed a resemblance to Craig. On Reddit, one fan wrote: 'New favourite character. That is all.' Another commented: 'They've rebuilt Craig Tinker from memory.' Others called him a 'Craig lookalike' and speculated that Kit would bully him just like he did with Craig.

Some fans expressed sadness over Craig's exit, with one noting: 'It just reminds me that Craig was needlessly killed off when he was the only one left who was there for Kirk and was a link to Tim's daughter Faye's existence.'

Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
