An Escape to the Country couple suffered a devastating blow after being outbid on their dream home. Ray and Vicky, who appeared on Wednesday's (August 12) episode of the BBC show, were left speechless after viewing a property in Norfolk they described as perfect, but their offer was unsuccessful.
Searching for a New Life in Norfolk
The couple, who have been together for 33 years after meeting in the Military, decided to leave busy Bedfordshire for a quieter life in rural Norfolk. They hoped to find a detached property with at least three bedrooms, space for their son Connor, two dogs and chickens, and potential for an income stream, such as a bed and breakfast.
With a budget of £680,000, host Margherita Taylor arranged several viewings, but it was the mystery house that stole the show. Located in West Bilney, Norfolk, the property was on the market for £695,000 and featured five bedrooms, ten acres, and a flexible layout suitable for running a business.
A Dream Dashed
Upon seeing the house, Vicky was visibly excited, saying: "Wow. I'm so excited right now. My mind is blown." She added: "It's all just stunning. It's exactly what we dreamed of, really. What I've seen so far is just amazing."
The couple wasted no time selling their current home and putting in an offer, but their hopes were dashed when Margherita announced they had been outbid. She explained: "Vicki and Ray did put an offer on the mystery house but sadly for them they were outbid. So their search for a beautiful home in Norfolk continues."
Escape to the Country is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
