Wedding marquee explosion rocks the village
Earlier this week, Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) discovered the truth about Billy Fletcher's (Jay Kontzle) attack. She had believed Joe put her ex in hospital, and decided to run away with Billy and their children. A comment from Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) about the attack played on Dawn's mind, leading her to confront Billy at the roadside. After he confessed he had lied, Dawn returned to the village.
Finding Joe in the marquee, Dawn begged for another chance and asked if he would still marry her. Joe never got to answer, as Jimmy King (Nick Miles) crashed his car through the tent, knocking him, Joe, and Dawn unconscious.
Jimmy King's tragic fate and Joe's narrow escape
Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) rushed to save her husband, but it became apparent Jimmy wouldn't survive, forcing Nicola to sit beside him as his life slipped away. While Dawn sustained only minor injuries, Joe was trapped under a beam, and neither Nicola nor Dawn could free him. Dawn noticed the marquee was on fire and grabbed Nicola to escape.
Outside, Graham, Kim Tate (Claire King), Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), and Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) had arrived. Graham realised Joe was still inside and ran to save him, but the explosion happened before he could get in.

Fans took to social media platform X to express their hopes for Joe's survival. Sophie wrote: 'I need Joe to survive this he can't die #emmerdale'. Margaret shared: 'Heartbroken. Not Joe'. Another fan stated: 'If Joe Tate has been killed i am never watching Emmerdale again!', while Apawables said: 'PLEASE TELL ME JOE ISNT DEAD PLEASE'.
The episode confirms Joe wasn't killed in the explosion. Graham shares that debris potentially protected Joe from the blast. In hospital, Joe learns Dawn has gone into early labour, and she gives birth to a very tiny baby boy.
This week marked the end of Nick Miles' time as Jimmy King. Discussing his final scenes with on-screen partner Nicola Wheeler, Nick told Metro: 'We both broke down. It's the end of a long relationship that we made together. I sent her a letter telling her that I've been so lucky to have the best onscreen partner. But we will always be mates.'
