Emmerdale star Chris Coghill has admitted he is not a fan of his character Kev Barton's singing scenes, describing them as 'excruciating' and 'horrible'.
Fan-favourite character
Kev Barton has been a fan-favourite since his debut in September 2025, introduced as Robert Sugden's estranged husband. Through flashbacks, viewers learned Kev and Robert married in prison, and Kev later held Robert and Aaron Dingle hostage with a samurai sword before leaving the village.
He has since returned to build a relationship with his son, Lewis Barton, played by Bradley Riches, despite interference from former associate Steve Sykes.
Actor's confession
Speaking at a recent Emmerdale event in Leeds, Chris Coghill said he 'f****** hates' the musical numbers, joking about delaying a Christmas song request until 2029. He added, 'But no, it's excruciating. Horrible.'
Chris also confessed he isn't a karaoke fan in real life, saying, 'If I could sing, I wouldn't be an actor. If I could sing, I would have been in a band in the 1990s.'
Upcoming storyline
Later this week, Kev will continue bonding with Lewis, proposing to teach him to ride a bike. Lewis agrees, leaving Kev alarmed about keeping a secret hidden.
