The 2022 film 'Good Luck to You, Leo Grande', starring Daryl McCormack and Emma Thompson, will air free on Channel 4 at 10pm on Saturday 3rd May. The film follows a retired, widowed schoolteacher who hires a young sex worker, played by McCormack.
Directed by Sophie Hyde from a script by Katy Brand, the film received widespread acclaim and BAFTA nominations for both leads, as well as a nod for Outstanding British Film. RadioTimes.com gave it a four-star review, calling it 'an affecting exploration of an outwardly self-assured woman gaining an altogether more internal sense of confidence'.
McCormack, a former BAFTA Rising Star nominee, described the experience of making the film as 'joyful', despite the pressure of a two-hander. He told RadioTimes.com: 'I had to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the whole experience.' He also noted the positive reactions from audiences, who connected with themes of intimacy, family, and body image.
