Belinda Owusu has returned to filming for EastEnders, according to a report by The Sun, just months after her character Libby Fox departed Walford in July. The actress, 37, is expected to feature in the answers to the flashforward mystery, which are due to air in January 2027.
Libby Fox's history in Walford
Owusu first joined the BBC One soap in 2006 as Libby Fox, the daughter of Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and sister to Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams). Libby left Albert Square in 2010 after securing a place at Oxford University, with brief returns between 2014 and 2017.
Earlier this year, viewers learned Libby would be back on screens when she appeared in the flashforward episode. Over the summer, Libby spent time in Walford supporting Chelsea after her son Jordan was knocked down by a car, as well as Denise following her blood cancer diagnosis.
Denise's ongoing health battle
Denise has faced a difficult ordeal since her cancer diagnosis. She was told a few weeks ago that a stem cell transplant could help her recover, but discovered that most of her family were not a match. Darnell Larson (Christopher Colquhoun) then arrived, revealed to be Denise's half-brother after Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) found out via a DNA website.
Darnell initially hesitated to help due to the trauma of his wife's death, but eventually agreed to get tested. Sadly, Denise recently learned that her brother was not a close enough match. In yesterday's episode, she was left questioning whether to continue her chemotherapy.
Owusu's career beyond EastEnders
Owusu reflected on reuniting with Diane Parish earlier this year, saying: 'We reflected on how full circle it all felt, I'm now the same age she was when she joined, and like her then, I have two children. It was special to celebrate that with her. There's something meaningful about a show giving you that sense of family over so many years.'
Away from EastEnders, Owusu is also known for playing nurse Nicky McKendrick in Holby City between 2017 and 2022. Metro has contacted EastEnders for a comment.
