Fans are concerned that Denise Fox's time on EastEnders may be coming to an end after tonight's dramatic episode. The character, who has been battling blood cancer, broke out of hospital to rush to the airport, where she confronted Sheila Atkins, who had taken Denise's grandson Jordan Fox and planned to smuggle him to Morocco.
Denise's airport confrontation
In the episode, Denise (Diane Parish) faced Sheila (Sheila Ruskin) at the airport. Sheila claimed she could give Jordan a better life than Denise and his mum Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) could. Denise asked what would happen when Sheila died and Jordan was left with no one. Sheila argued she planned to be around for a long time. Denise then ranted that she didn't plan on dying young either, but cancer seemed to have other ideas.
Wedding postponement sparks fears
Fans were already worried about Denise's fate, but their fears grew after Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) and Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson) agreed to move their wedding date. They had been approached by Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), who wanted to buy their date after her ideal date was stolen. They initially refused, especially when Cindy suggested they might want to wait until Denise was out of hospital. But after Denise risked her life getting to the airport, they decided to postpone so Kim's sister could be there.
One fan said the comment about getting married with Denise made them think she might not make it. Another pointed to the Fox-Trueman family getting ready for an event in the flashforward, suggesting the New Year episode could be a last hurrah for the family. Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) is married to Denise, but was previously married to Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack), who died on New Year's Day 2017.
New family members announced
EastEnders recently announced two new members for the Fox-Trueman family amid Denise's cancer storyline. Christopher Colquhoun has been cast as her brother Darnell Larson Jr, and Krysstina Frempong has been cast as his daughter Grace. Christopher said he was thrilled to be moving to Walford, and Krysstina said she was excited to join the show.
