Anthony Boyle, known for his roles in Derry Girls and House of Guinness, is set to star in a new eight-part Sky drama titled Charmer. The series, described as an exploration of "trust and desire", follows a seducer-for-hire employed to test the fidelity of wealthy clients' partners.
Boyle plays Ryan in the "seductive" drama, which also features Sex Education star Connor Swindells, Black Mirror's Siena Kelly, and Australian actress Sophie Wilde. The plot centres on an ambitious group of thirty-something Londoners whose lives are upended when they meet Ryan.

Sky teased the storyline: "As a wedding day draws closer, an assignment becomes personal, threatening the professional distance that has always underpinned Ryan's work." The network added: "As deception gives way to desire, Ryan risks breaking the one rule that has always defined him: never fall in love."
Created by Thomas Aspell, the series is directed by Elliot Hegarty, known for his work on Rivals, Ted Lasso and Bad Education. Guest stars include Sam Delich, Vivian Oparah, Neil Maskell, Karan Gill, Sophie Simnett and Polly Walker.

Simon Hatton, executive producer for Working Title Television, described the series as "a seductive way into the thorny heart of contemporary love". The show has been branded as part thriller, part romance, asking questions about trust and desire, and "what happens when the heart overrules the head".

Boyle's recent projects
Boyle is no stranger to spicy roles, as his House of Guinness character Arthur Guinness experienced seductive scenes. The heir of the Guinness empire's secret about his sexuality was shown on-screen through his affairs with men.
He is also leading the cast of Netflix's true-story thriller The Altruists, which airs this November. The series follows the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, with Boyle playing Sam Bankman-Fried, the man behind FTX and trading firm Alameda Research. FTX imploded in 2022, with billions of dollars in customer funds allegedly embezzled.
Charmer will air on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK.
