A mischievous dachshund named Malco has become an internet sensation after his hilarious response to being scolded through a Ring doorbell camera was captured on video. The footage, shared on TikTok, has amassed over 240,000 views.
The video shows Malco darting across the room and leaping towards the camera, prompting his owner to yell, “Malco! No! Get down Malco!” Undeterred, the long-haired pooch continues jumping repeatedly, attempting to bite the doorbell. “I yell at him through the camera so he’s trying to eat it,” the owner wrote in a caption, adding, “These dachshunds have attitude.”
TikTok users were quick to comment, with one joking about the breed’s back problems, to which the owner replied, “Omg you have no idea, this dog stresses me.” Another user shared their own experience of mounting their Ring doorbell on the ceiling after their dogs chewed it up. A fourth viewer wrote, “I am actually laughing out loud, this is hilarious,” and the owner responded, “No he’s actually hilarious! I had to cut the video because right after I couldn’t stop laughing!”
According to the PDSA, dachshunds are loving and lively dogs with considerable energy despite their small size. They can have two sizes and three coat types, and are known for living longer than many breeds. The charity notes that dachshunds love to curl up in warm places and generally get along well with children, but owners should supervise interactions and recognise their dog’s body language to avoid stress.
