Coronation Street fans have been doubling down on a theory about what is really going on with Lucy Parkinson as they fear she could make a shocking move. Viewers of the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, were only recently introduced to the teenage character following the unexpected arrival of her dad, Richie Parkinson, in Weatherfield.
Tim's reunion with cousin Richie
After picking up a cab fare, Tim Metcalfe was surprised to be reunited with his cousin, and it wasn't long before he was seen sleeping on Tim's sofa, admitting he was going through a rocky patch with his wife, Rachel. Tim advised Richie to try to sort things out with Rachel, so he headed home, but he accidentally left his wallet behind.
When Tim returned later on, he was left in shock as he saw Richie's shirt covered in blood, and then he made the horrifying discovery of Rachel's lifeless body. The next time we headed to Weatherfield, viewers saw Tim and his wife, Sally, sitting in shocked silence after a sleepless night and it wasn't that long before DS Lisa Connor-Swain called round and confirmed that they had charged Richie with the murder of his wife.
Lucy's placement and behaviour
It was confirmed that Richie's daughter, Lucy, would be placed in temporary foster care. But when her placement fell through, Tim went behind Sally's back and organised a meeting with the social worker, saying he and his wife would take her in, as they had done with the Michaelis children - Brody, Joanie and Shanice.
But while recognising what she's been through, Lucy's behaviour has been far from ideal, something that Sally in particular appears to have struggled with, as the teen gravitates towards Tim for support. During Wednesday's (August 26) episode of Corrie, Lucy flew off the handle again, this time with Joanie about their parents being in prison.
As Sally and Tim intervened, Lucy admitted she wanted her dad and was eventually granted a phone call, during which she said she hated both Sally and Tim. Seemingly worried about his daughter's antics whilst he's behind bars, Richie told Lucy that everything would be fine, as long as she 'sticks to the story'.
Fans react on social media
The comments left Corrie fans flocking to social media to comment, as many continue to believe that Richie wasn't responsible for Rachel's death, and that he is instead covering for Lucy, who was the real perpetrator.
@Ann1eFS asked: "Anyone else think Lucy killed her mother and her dad is covering for her? #corrie." @bbettiekaren said: "I feel like Lucy killed her mum and she's going to end up attacking Sally then the truth will come out. #coronationstreet #corrie."
@JAli89_91 commented: "I said it before now I'm even more convinced that Lucy killed her mother. #corrie." @SouthernCazza1 posted: "Richie's an idiot taking the wrap for that psycho Lucy! She's potential serial killer material #Corrie." @dxniellelouise_ wrote: "'Stick to the story'. Well surely that confirms it? Lucy killed her mum. #corrie." @jazzyg2005 added: "Can we just fast forward to the point where Lucy just admits she did it #Corrie."
