Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) has received confirmation of a new job in Whitby, setting her exit from Coronation Street in motion. The character, who has felt stuck in Weatherfield, learned that she was successful in her interview at an art gallery.
Job offer confirmed
After attending the interview, Nina told Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) and Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in the August 21 episode that she was unsure how she had performed. Later, as Nina sat with Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) in the Rovers, a message arrived on her phone. Unable to check the news herself, she asked Asha to read it.
The message confirmed that Nina had been offered the role, with the gallery keen for her to start as soon as possible. The development paves the way for her departure from the cobbles.
Seven years on the Street
Nina first appeared in 2019 when Roy discovered he had a long-lost brother, Richard, and a niece named Nina. After Richard died, Nina moved in with Roy and began working in the local café, becoming a regular fixture for seven years.
Away from the show, Mollie Gallagher has already taken on her next role, currently touring the UK with the cast of Silence of the Lambs, in which she plays Clarice Starling.
